📰 EXXXXTRA,
on view until 10/31 in GD Commons.

Historically, newspaper ‘extras’ were any prints that interrupted the regular cycle, introducing additional copies when news was urgent or highly anticipated. EXXXXXTRA takes this idea a little further, exploring what exists beyond the first printing round, the original audience, and the physical boundaries of the page. An opportunity to reconsider the spaces a publication might occupy and what else it could become.

Featuring newsprint publications from RISD's Design Studio 4 (DS4), EXXXXXTRA transforms the gallery into an expanded publication of its own. Reprinted in collaboration with Newspaper Club, individual pages are rearranged, repeated, and spread throughout the space. As publications overlap and intersect, new relationships emerge, inviting visitors to read, explore, and make connections beyond the printed page.

Presented during RISD's 150th anniversary year.

Thanks to spring '26 & '25 DS4 faculty. Exhibition organized and planned by Kamber Lee with Deborah Khodanovich and Ramon Tejada, with support from Newspaperclub.
